While I did find this exercise challenging, it was also a
great experiment on introspection. For two weeks, I thought deeply about, well
those things that BUG me, and well, here it goes!
Bug 1. Every day, I must drive through I4 traffic. Traffic
is an issue I have difficulty dealing with.
Why: I4
is a major intrastate within my area of the state. It is undergoing
modifications to allow for the increased migration levels that have occurred
within Central Florida. Until the traffic conditions are relieved through
construction, it is an utter parking lot.
Bug 2. Waiting on my wife to assist with ‘beautifying’ my
daughter so that I can drive her to school.
Why: I
model myself as a good dad! One thing I am not able to do however is prepare my
daughters hair for school. I hate, hate, hate, waiting on anyone for anything,
but in this instance, I am powerless. We usually run later than I would prefer
in leaving because of my need to include Mom in this process.
Bug 3. Passing by my young adult son’s disaster of a room.
My son turns 22 next month and struggles with life skills.
Why: I
am a neat freak. I am positive I am OCD. I am also very controlling and would
love to clean his room for him. I have however decided that would not be an
effective way to allow him to develop. Until then, I clinch my teeth!
Bug 4. Waiting on admins within my companies building to
refill paper and supplies within my rented office.
Why: I
pay for supply replenishment within my lease. The buildings hired temps are not
as diligent as I would like, and at times, I am forced to wait for them to
perform their duties longer than I would prefer. This of course is a shock to
my nerves.
Bug 5. Using Proctor U for testing at the University of Florida.
Technical issues are usually abound.
Why:
Every time I set out to take a test, I must go through a manual process of
being connected. Because of a firewall within my system, I can never auto
connect. A definite frustration just before testing.
Bug 6. Carrying groceries into my condominium unit. I live
on the 3rd floor.
Why: At
the time of purchase, I though having an upper level would limit noise and
would be more private then ground or middle units. What I didn’t think about
was carrying 20 bags of groceries of a staircase without an elevator weekly.
Bug 7. Waiting for mail to be sorted at my workplace for my
office. It usually delays the mail by one or more days due to the manual laborious
process.
Why: As
you can see there is a trend developing around my workplace. The building
management doesn’t do well in performing these various tasks. The late mail
creates issues within my workflow systems.
Bug 8. Unwashed dishes left in the sink overnight.
Why: as
noted previously, being a neat freak will create issues when living around
others. This is merely a second example of how I am constantly bugged by
cohabitating.
Bug 9. Long lines at the checkout counters at Walmart. I believe
the Walmart in my community is amongst the last to have self checkout.
Why:
Waiting on lines to perform monotonous task is a huge downer for me. This
should not be an issue in 2020. I am hopeful this gets remedied before another millennium.
Bug 10. Dealing with bank noncustomer service.
Why:
Every so often an issue arises with my accounts. It is at those times. I must
call in to customer service and am usually treated rudely. This is a high
annoyance factor for me.
Bug 11. Attempting to juggle work and family time to a point
where both receive adequate attention.
Why:
Family is very important to me. As such, I struggle to both stay on top of my business
and be there for life events during my children’s lives.
Bug 12. Parking at my condominium unit. Always a struggle.
Why:
Because there is no assigned parking, If you come home too late, your relegated
to parking blocks from your unit. This becomes an issue when your tugging along
a sleepy 9 year old.
Bug 13. Working with ungrateful clients. Clients who push
and push for more.
Why: As
a business practice, I always go above and beyond for my clients. While this is
commonplace, I am always having to do more to make them satisfied.
Bug 14. Talking with my childhood friend serving in the arms
services overseas. Technology is always an issue.
Why:
You would think by now, technology would not be an issue. Our calls are always disturbed
as they are generally internet based calls.
Bug 15. Messy neighbors who are not considerate to others
living around them.
Why: My
neighbors for the most part are excellent. There is always, however one
individual, who cares only about themselves.
Bug 16. Having an aged iPhone that slows down when you need
it most.
Why: I
have an iPhone 6S and do not want to pay for a newer phone. It appears however
they are attempting to make me by throttling my phones ability to work.
Bug 17. This kind of goes with the iPhone issue. My PC is
also dated.
Why: as
a small business owner with a growing family I cannot afford a new PC. Because
of this I deal with sluggish productivity.
Bug 18. Waiting for my garbage collection to occur during
the timetables it is suppose to.
Why: Again,
working with building management has been challenging. This is merely one of
the challenges.
Bug 19. Finding a good veterinarian for my dog.
Why: A
good vet is expensive. My dog is older and having more and more issues. It is becoming
overwhelming based on my income.
Bug 20. My son is starting to use my clothes because we are similar,
I size.
Why: I don’t
want to share. They are my clothes.
